Hamlet was the main character; he was the son of Gertrude(the queen) and she married Claudius(the king) who killed Hamlets father so he could take the throne instead of Hamlet. Ophelia and Hamlet faced similar fates, with similarities and differences along the way, all to do with their madness.
But she can't call him out on his language, because, as a good girl, she can't admit that she knows what it means. But they were not encouraged to write or read or reason. When they actually went mad, it was after the death of each of their fathers. Hamlet would undoubtedly have married Ophelia if he could but there were a number of things against that, including her father thinking that Hamlet is too highly-ranked to want her for a wife and telling her that she should spurn his advances otherwise it might make her father look a fool. Hamlet and Ophelia were two young people in love and were supposedly driven mad by their relationship and passion for one another. Perhaps he wants to distance himself from her so that he can focus on avenging his father's death.
When she lies to Hamlet and tells him that Polonius is home when he is concealed in the room eavesdropping, Ophelia proves she cannot live in both worlds. Ophelia is Polonius's daughter; Polonius is Claudius's best friend and Hamlet and Ophelia are engaged.
Throughout the play, various people made remarks to Ophelia, such as her father Polonius and her brother Laertes, on how her relationship with Hamlet wouldn’t end well. They were taught needlecraft, righteousness of character, servitude.
Although it cannot fully be determined whether or not Hamlet and Ophelia were truly together, many of their interactions hint that they were.
In Elizabethan English, "nunnery" is also slang for "brothel." a brothel. Or perhaps Hamlet is so poisoned with anger that he's no longer capable of feeling love. He is cold, tells her he didn't love her, and then says, "Get thee to a nunnery."
