Through this activity, the society supports and recommends the use of a multi-faceted definition of character known as the “Six Pillars of Character.” A person of character demonstrates the following six qualities: respect, responsibility, trustworthiness, fairness, caring, and citizenship. The NJHS is open to students in grades 6 through 9. The National Honor Society is based off of four pillars: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. National Honor Society is a member of the Character Counts! National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) focuses on helping the community with the five following pillars: scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship.
